A flagged report doesn’t necessarily mean that the report is invalid but that a manual review is
required. Firstly, review page 2 of the report to ascertain what result of the four checks flagged
(coloured orange):
1. Face Match
There are 12 markers on an individual’s face that are scored, e.g. left eye, right eye,
forehead, mouth etc. If any marker fails, the overall result will be “Flagged”. If the photo on
an item of ID is obscured or damaged, this could impact the facial biometric verification
result.
2. Liveness Match
Is the individual live and present or is someone trying to trick the system using a photo? Or,
is the check being done via video link e.g. FaceTime/Zoom?
3. Document Fraud
The system errs on the side of caution for this check and there are four markers here:
Image Composition
The image may be an ID document captured from a screen or photocopy and not of the
actual ID (check for pixilation).
Photo Check
Another face image may be placed on top of the original face image on the document (check
for exposed edges or shadows around the face or a difference in surface texture/glossiness).
Document Integrity
The ID Document may be damaged or not entirely in the shot.
Detail Check
The measurements of the overall ID and text may not be exactly the same as a normal
version of this ID. Have details within the ID been obscured e.g. by shadow, glare, a finger?
If at all unsure, potential further checks could include:
- Repeat the check asking the client to use a different item of ID first e.g. if the Driver
Licence was used first, ask the client to select Passport as the first item of ID this time.
- Repeat the check asking for an alternative combination of ID e.g. if Driver Licence and
Passport were used, ask the client to use Passport, Birth Certificate and Medicare Card
this time.
4. Data Check
This is the DVS (Document Verification Services) check which confirms if the ID is valid or has
been reported lost/stolen. If the Data Check has flagged, check the report for any
discrepancies in the information submitted e.g. licence number, name, date of birth and
state. Inaccuracies with information submitted will not enable a pass result.
Potential further checks:
- have the individual repeat the check, this time ensuring the information submitted is
100% correct.
