From 1 July 2026, Salesforce will enforce Step-Up Authentication requirements for Report Actions. This change introduces an additional authentication step when users access and export data from reports and dashboards.
All users will be required to complete the additional authentication step based on the configured security policy.
Step-Up Authentication Setup
1. Ensure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is Enabled
Confirm that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is enabled for all users before configuring Step-Up Authentication.
2. Enable Step-Up Authentication for Reports and Dashboard Actions
- Navigate to Setup by selecting the Gear Icon in the top-right corner of UPMS.
- Open the Identity Verification settings page by searching on the Quick Find box on the left hand side.
- Locate the Session Security Level Policies section.
- Under Reports and Dashboards, select one of the following options:
-
Require Periodic Step-Up Authentication
Requires users to complete authentication when viewing reports and dashboards. -
Require Periodic Step-Up Authentication when Exporting or Printing - (Recommended)
Requires users to complete authentication only when exporting or printing data from reports and dashboards.

3. Configure the Authentication Period
Set the Step-Up Authentication validity period. The authentication period can be configured between 1 and 120 minutes.
Once configured, users will be prompted to complete Step-Up Authentication whenever the selected security policy conditions are met.
