Journals in Unity PMS are the transfer of funds from one matter to another in the system. This is useful when you are needing to transfer funds from a clients closing matter to their active one or when money has been incorrectly receipted from one of the clients matters. A journal will show the transfer of funds and receipting history between matters.

Creating A Trust Journal

This record can be created from the Journals related list in the bank account. 

Click New and fill in the required fields. 

• Source - Matter that incorrectly received the funds
• Destination - Matter that should have received these funds originally

When created, the effect can be seen on the Financials tab on the Matter.

Reversing a Trust Journal

Click Reverse from the Journal record. 

Enter the Reversal Date and reason for reversal in the pop-up box.

Reversed journal records can be identified with the -X suffix. The cancellation details will also be included in the relevant fields.
